EnglishIt is a language exam that measures your German proficiency at the B2 and C1 level and in the field of medicine with reference to the Common European Union Language Criteria, accompanied by a medical doctor from Germany and recognised by the Ministry of Health in Germany as valid in most states. It is a required exam for medical doctors who want to work in German-speaking countries. The written exam tests your written skills in relation to the hospital and the working environment, while the oral exam requires you to demonstrate your command of the language on specific topics centred on the doctors' medical notes.
To be successful in the exam, you must be familiar with medical German vocabulary for situations that are frequently encountered in hospitals in German-speaking countries. The exam is in line with the Health Regulations issued by the German Ministry of Health in June 2014. As a result of the exam, your knowledge of German at B2 and C1 level will be documented in detail. At level B2 you should be able to express yourself clearly and in detail in situations encountered in a hospital environment, successfully explain your point of view and develop solutions in a patient-doctor relationship. You should have a very wide vocabulary in your own speciality and in most general subjects. You have a good command of grammar. At C1 level you should be able to express yourself fluently and spontaneously. You should be able to understand colloquial idioms and use different styles consciously. You must be able to use grammatical structures correctly.
The exam consists of two parts: written and oral. The written part lasts approximately 80 minutes. The oral exam consists of three parts determined by the Ministry of Health Regulations. There is 20 minutes preparation time before the oral exam.
